Data Centre

Our data centre is where our managed services live and breathe and is perfectly placed away from the city centre and London. Our data centre and hosting network is constantly monitored using state-of-the-art digital systems. Connectivity is excellent with dual entry diverse fibre routes encompassing Telecity Williams House and Reynolds House data centres in Manchester as well as numerous others in the North along with Telehouse North and Harbour Exchange in London. The network we utilise has the coveted ISO27001 accreditation as well as a 24/7 manned Network Operation Centre.

In the UK, the rekoop infrastructure is housed in a highly secure tier 2 data centre. The storage system is an EMC SAN which is shared across the whole infrastructure and utilising the latest PowerPath encryption with RSA Encryption algorithms.

The main server infrastructure is run on a VMware vSphere 4 Enterprise environment spread across multiple redundant host cluster nodes. DRS (Dynamic Resource Scheduling) allows virtual servers to be re-hosted in real time as demand rises or falls maintain smooth resource utilisation across the host nodes.

We utilise a Microsoft Windows Server Environment which is fully 64bit. Each server is hardened using Base Security Analyser and Security profiles. Entry points into the environment also run anti-virus software.

Security is enforced by state of the art Checkpoint Unified Threat Management appliances which are clustered and redundant. In additional to firewall activities these devices also employ Intrusion Prevention Services at the application level to protect web traffic.

This ensures our system strikes the right balance of utilising the latest security technology for a balanced price.

With on-premise software you often need to invest in server, hosting, connectivity, installation, application support, infrastructure support, peripheral components etc. This means a large capital outlay in the beginning. With rekoop we have already made this enterprise class investment in our Tier 2 Data Centre facilities.
The majority of the on-premise product vendors charge hefty application support, typically 20% of the cost of the licenses per year. That traditional cost model also needs to include all the hidden cost elements like: License cost, Product vendor support costs, Application server costs, Implementation costs, In-house application and infrastructure support costs, server costs, upgrade costs, database costs, hosting costs and training costs.
